Special Issue: Soft Power and Public Diplomacy in East Asia
Guest Editor: Dr. Kadir Ayhan - Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (ayhan[at]hufs.ac.kr)
Deadline to submit abstracts: January 5, 2018
We are looking for papers on East Asian countries’ soft power and/or public diplomacy. The papers must clearly conceptualize soft power and/or public diplomacy. Merely descriptive papers that list an actor’s soft power resources or public diplomacy activities are not acceptable. We seek both theoretical and empirical papers that may address, but not limited to, the topics related to an actor’s conversion of soft power resources into soft power, an actor’s soft power in certain field or region, an actor’s soft power goals, a state’s official public diplomacy initiatives, local governments’ or other governmental agencies’ public diplomacy initiatives, the role of NGOs, companies or citizens’ role in public diplomacy, people-to-people exchanges as public diplomacy.
If you would like to publish in the special issue, please send your 350 words abstract by January 5, 2018 to editor[at]hufs.ac.kr (please include “JCEA Submission” in the title). Abstracts must 1) clearly articulate the authors’ analytical or theoretical framework, 2) specify the research aims and methodology, and 3) highlight the key findings of the paper.
